About

Since 1973, the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky has worked to ensure consistent and professional building code enforcement in all areas across the state. Our membership includes more than 650 building inspectors, fire officials, contractors, engineers, architects and others in related fields. CAAK is a Chapter of the International Code Council (ICC) and is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky.

History

On May 17, 1973, a group from the then established code enforcement agencies across the state (City of Frankfort, Jefferson County, Bowling Green, Ashland, Newport, Paducah, State Fire Marshal’s office, Louisville, Owensboro and HUD) made up a steering committee for the formation of a Kentucky Codes Enforcement Association. The first meeting of the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky was held on June 27, 1973. The first order of business was the election of interim officers until the first annual meeting that fall. Mr. Vanderwier was elected President, Mr. Paul Moore (Paducah) Vice-President and Mr. Connie Curls (City of Frankfort) Secretary Treasurer.
