Background on Scholarship award:
CAAK has awarded the above scholarship since 2001. Over the years, CAAK has increased the award amount and has awarded over 16 tuition assistance scholarships to students enrolled in code related studies, with a total amount of over $13,250 awarded. In 2012 the award name was changed to the “George Mann Code Related Studies Scholarship Award”.
“George Mann Code Related Studies Award”: George was a CAAK Past President and in 2012 retired from the Department of Housing Building & Construction as Deputy Commissioner. At the spring annual conference this scholarship name was changed in recognition of George and the following was stated “George is arguably the most influential CAAK member the association has ever had. His commitment to education as well as his many contributions to the association greatly impacted the success of CAAK over the past two decades. He removed the barriers and worked tirelessly to facilitate the relationship between the Department of Housing, Building and Construction and the local Building Official. Communication avenues were opened and partnerships were formed that help provide a more comprehensive, quality, service to the citizens of this great Commonwealth. Simply stated, George is an icon, a strong pillar in our profession”. George currently serves as CAAK’s Executive Assistant.
