CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: TRADES WORKER – ELECTRICIAN

This position maintains and performs electrical repairs. Duties and responsibilities include performing repairs and daily maintenance on electrical and related plumbing systems; performing inspections and troubleshooting; and preparing related paperwork.
DUTIES: Responds to calls for emergency repairs and maintenance to electrical components and plumbing systems. Performs electrical and plumbing repairs and maintenance functions relating to all city facilities including in compliance with departmental safety regulations. Reviews building plans associated with repairs and upgrades for parks and building lighting. Performs inspections and troubleshooting for building and park wiring, including low to medium voltage systems. Operates equipment such as bucket trucks, scissor lifts, or sky lifts. Performs clerical tasks such as reports for the Health and State Agriculture Departments, and maintaining manuals and guides for operation of systems of responsibility.
REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma (or GED) required with Local Journeyman’s License in Electrical Repairs and a minimum of four years of experience in commercial/industrial electricity. This certification requires the successful completion of the National Certification Program for Electrical Technicians. Basic knowledge of commercial/industrial plumbing. Must possess a valid Kentucky Driver’s License. Maintains requirements for journeyman electrician or master electrician.
SALARY: Pay Grade 118; $43,988/yr ($21.14/hr), plus a full benefit package with paid vacation and sick leave.
WORK HOURS: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Monday through Friday with occasional overtime expected.
