Governor’s Order suspends all licenses and certifications during COVID-19 crisis

To lessen some of the stress and strain on all involved, the Governor has issued an Executive Order that applies to your certification and license required by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The Governor’s Order suspends all licenses and certifications during this COVID-19 crisis. Please read the Order carefully, understand the dates to which this Order is applicable.  Know what is expected of you and when.

First and foremost, this Order does not suspend your certification or license renewal fee. Your certification and/or license is due on your birth month.  You should receive notice from the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction prior to your birth month reminding you that your renewal is due.  Though you will not be required to show proof of your Continuing Education per the Order, you will still be required to pay the applicable renewal fee.  Again, your renewal fee must still be paid prior to the end of your birth month in order to maintain your certification and/or license.  By paying your fee, your certification and/or license will remain in good standing.  Then after the COVID-19 crisis is ended, this Order suspended, you will then have 120 days to obtain and submit proof of your CEU credits thereby fulfilling your certification renewal obligations.

At the present time, CAAK is talking with the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction about possible alternate training formats to be utilized to obtain CEU credits during this COVID-19 crisis.  Once we know what formats are approved for CEU training purposes, we will reach out to ICC and others to secure the best possible instruction available using these formats.  So, keep an eye on your email for future updates.  Yes, CAAK understands that the Order suspends your need for CEU credits during this crisis.  However, you will still need CEU credits at some point.  No one knows when that time will be. Therefore, if you can fulfill your CEU needs now and in the coming months, that is one less thing you and your jurisdiction need to worry about when normal returns. Item #6 in the Governor’s Order does state you can voluntarily submit proof of your CEU credits.
